Intermedia Design Systems, Inc. and autoBOOK ®
Intermedia Design Systems, Inc. was founded in 1984 to respond to the
needs of building professionals by providing an electronic version of
the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code which had
just been adopted by New York State. This product is widely used in New
York State, including governmental bodies concerned with code
enforcement.
In 1991, the Company branched out into other building codes, (e.g.,
Southern Building Code Congress) and local government codes, (e.g.,
General Code Publishers).
The autoBOOK® search engine has also become an ideal application for
electronic components to professional publishing products. This has
become a significant source of company growth since 1996 and provides a
painless and cost effective solution for publishers who must respond to
their customers demands for electronic products.
What is autoBOOK®?
autoBOOK® is a search engine that works on the simple basis of word
roots and the rules of the English, or any other specified, language.
For example, if you look for the word explode, it finds exploding,
explosion and all other variations of that word. If you look for good,
it finds better and best. You can look for words, numbers or phrases
without complicated search procedures. It handles graphics, tables,
equations and formulas. The notes feature allows users to store notes
attached to text and to search those notes.
autoBOOK® has a small footprint and uses a computer's resources
sparingly. Products can be loaded and run from the hard disk or run
directly from a CD-ROM.
